Overall value: US$1 million
The New Jersey Nets have become the first National Basketball Association team to sell the sponsorship on their practice jerseys, securing PNY Technologies.
PNY will pay a six-figure sum for the sponsorship, which comes hand in hand with PNY's sponsorship of the Nets' practice facility in East Rutherford. Nets coaching staff will also wear PNY-branded gear during post-practice interviews.
"The practice jersey is a complementary part of our deal and it is certainly new to the advertising arena but it gives us added exposure with our brand," said Margaret Salleroli, senior marketing communications manager for PNY.
The NBA, like the NFL, is allowing teams to sell sponsorship of their practice jerseys to raise additional revenues.
