Australian motorsport legend Marcos Ambrose, twice winner of the Australian V8 Supercar series, has agreed to endorse online motorsport simulator, iRacing.com.
The website offers users the chance to, 'test and train in much the same way that top Formula One drivers and other professionals do... all with a degree of accuracy and authenticity that turns virtual practice into real-world results.' The service has cost more than US$25 million to develop.
The company, which was launched last summer, claims to have more than 12,000 subscribers, including a number of professional drivers. It has been praised by Justin Wilson and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Ambrose, who currently drives in the Nascar Sprint Cup, will be joined by a number of V8 Supercar drivers as the company seeks to spread awareness in Australia and New Zealand.
"Our partnership with Marcos will help us spread the word about iRacing.com even more widely in two countries that are already keen on motorsport," said iRacing's executive producer, Steve Myers.
Ambrose said: "iRacing is an amazing simulation system and it has helped me enormously as I've tackled my first year in Nascar Sprint Cup competition. It's the closest thing to racing in the physical world that you can get. There is a growing list of professional drivers — including guys I race against every week, like A.J. Allmendinger, Brad Keselowski and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. — who use iRacing.com to fine–tune their skills, especially before heading to a particular track."
