The MP & Silva agency has seen off competition from a number of the world's leading sports agencies to land international rights to Serie A, the top tier of Italian soccer, across all platforms.
The agency is believed to have paid slightly over €90 million per year for the package over two years, significantly outbidding its rivals in a competitive tender. Mediapro, Sportfive and IMG are all reported to have bid between €75 and €80 million.
MP & Silva's package covers the 2010/11 and 2011/12 campaigns, and covers all platforms, including television, IPTV and mobile rights. The 20 Serie A clubs voted on the package, with 18 choosing MP & Silva.
"Since 2004, Serie A has been our flagship property, thus we are glad to have confirmed those rights also for the next seasons," said Riccardo Silva, president of MP & Silva.
Massimo Cellino, Lega Calcio Serie A board chairman, added: "Riccardo Silva is a reliable partner for Serie A and it’s always a big pleasure to cooperate with him and with MP & Silva."
