NBC has signed a two-year extension worth well over US$1 billion for the rights to the NFL's Sunday night football package.
The deal sees the broadcaster's existing US$600 million per year contract increase by some two per cent. It includes 16 Sunday games, the Thursday night season opener, two wild card Saturday games and primetime pre-season games.
The league's teams agreed the extension at a meeting in Chicago.
