Mike Ashley Racing (MAR) and the Matco Tools Top Fuel team, whose driver Antron Brown heads the National Hot Rod Association points table, have secured a new sponsor.
SpongeTech's backing of MAR began this weekend at the third annual Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at Norwalk, Ohio. Brown heads the Top Fuel, the most prestigious NHRA series, by more than 50 points from second place Larry Dixon Jr.
"We at SpongeTech are very excited to get involved with Mike Ashley Racing and the National Hot Rod Association," said SpongeTech's chief operating officer, Steven Moskowitz. "We feel our product and the NHRA demographics are very complimentary to each other. Our marketing focus is such that we want to reach the 'do-it-yourself' car care product user, and we feel this is a perfect fit. We are looking forward to seeing the SpongeTech logo in high-speed action on Antron Brown's dragster and capitalising on his performance."
Mike Ashley, who will return to professional competition this autumn in a second MAR car in an attempt to become the first man to win races in both the Top Fuel and Funny Car categories, said: "SpongeTech is a fantastic product that fits in perfectly with the NHRA demographic. NHRA fans are hands-on people and fans that clean their own vehicles will love the product. Like our race team, SpongeTech is a company that is growing very quickly and they have taken an aggressive marketing approach; it's a great fit for our racing culture. If you watch ESPN or Major League Baseball games, you've seen SpongeTech a lot lately and our goal is to help the SpongeTech’s product line continue to grow."
