The Miami Dolphins have signed a five-year deal, giving the naming rights to the NFL franchise's stadium to Sun Life.

The company will brand the stadium the Sun Life stadium at an annual cost of US$7.5 million, according to SportsBusiness Journal.

The stadium, which hosts the Super Bowl in February, is currently known as the Land Shark stadium under the terms of a one-year deal. Sun Life Stadium will be the arena's seventh name since it opened in 1987.

'It is interesting to note that Sun Life was title sponsor of the recent Frozen Fenway college hockey game at Fenway Park,' notes SBJ's Terry Lifton. 'That sponsorship was sold by Fenway Sports Group, where Mike Dee was President before jumping to the Dolphins as CEO.'

February's edition of SportsPro magazine features an exclusive interview with Miami Dolphins chief executive Mike Dee. For more information on SportsPro magazine, click here.
