Carlton Football Club has secured a multi-million dollar jersey sponsorship with Mars that will last for the next three years.
Mars first backed Carlton as long ago as 1997, paying a six-figure sum to promote the launch of Blue M&Ms. The partnership saw Carlton wear bright blue jerseys for one match, and split opinion amongst fans. Now, though, the association appears to have paid off. Financial details were not confirmed, but the deal is thought to be worth in the region of US$1.5 million per year.
Mars replaces the clubs previous sponsorship deal with Tourism Malaysia, which ended after the country's change in government.
The club has won 16 premierships which, along with Essendon, is the most of any club in the Australian Football League.
