One of the world’s oldest sports rights deals will continue after Cricket Australia and ABC Radio extended their broadcast partnership. It means ABC Radio will continue to broadcast domestic and international cricket across the country, extending a 76 year old relationship until the end of 2013-14.

Coverage will be exclusive and include Test matches, one-day internationals, plus domestic fixtures including the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash competition. The broadcasts will be carried on ABC’s network of local and digital radio stations as well as online and via the official Cricket Australia website.

James Sutherland, chief executive officer of Cricket Australia, described ABC’s coverage of the sport “an institution in Australia” and added: “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with them in a continually expanding fashion. Cricket Australia is committed to taking the game to as many Australians as possible and this new agreement will help us to do that.”
