Leeds Rhinos, the club that has dominated English rugby league in recent seasons and will contest another Super League Grand Final this weekend, have extended their shirt sponsorship agreement with Leeds Building Society.

The team has won the Super League in the two seasons since Leeds Building Society joined as its main sponsor, and hopes to secure another title in the clash with St Helens on Saturday.

Leeds Building Society has now confirmed it will back the team in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons. Financial terms for the deal were not released, but local experts estimated it as worth at least US$500,000 per season to the team.

"Leeds Building Society has certainly been a lucky sponsor and there is a perfect fit between us both," said Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington to the Yorkshire Evening Post. "We are proud to have the Leeds Building Society name on our shirts and I can't think of too many other sponsorships where the team carries the city's name on their shirts.

"This is an excellent deal for both parties and we are absolutely delighted. They have got an outstanding track record of supporting winners and getting involved with organisations that grow and flourish during that partnership. We have enjoyed unparalled success during the last two years and hopefully that will continue," he added.

Ian Ward, chief executive of Leeds Building Society, told the newspaper: "We have sponsored Leeds Rhinos for three years and they have already won Super League twice and they're in the final again. That's not bad for three years. On and off the field, the Rhinos have the right image and that is important. They have got good supporters and the players stay level headed, despite all their success. We are a national company, but we are absolutely committed to the city of Leeds and the communities in which we operate."
