Spanish soccer club Getafe has landed a new sponsor, with fast-food chain Burger King's branding to appear on both home and away shirts for the 2009/10 season.
The agreement is the first time that Burger King has sponsored a soccer club in Spain, and follows hot on the heels of the company's agreement to take the naming rights to the NZ Breakers basketball team.
"This was a partnership destined to happen," said Elías Diaz of Burger King (Spain). "This is a club with commitment and passion. Burger King's values of fun, fidelity and authenticity identify with the spirit of Getafe and their unconditional passion."
Getafe have been in the Primera Liga, Spain's top flight, since 2005. In 2008 the club reached the quarter-finals of the Uefa Cup.
