Freixenet raises glass to MotoGP deal

Catalan winery Freixenet has renewed its deal with Dorna to continue as the official cava supplier to the MotoGP world championship in 2010 and 2011.

Dorna, the commercial organiser of the world's most prestigious motorcycle championship, also announced that the company will have trackside branding in addition to its usual presence during the podium ceromany at every Grand Prix. Freixenet began supplying MotoGP in 2003.

"We are delighted that Freixenet will use the sport as a highly visible platform for its product," said Pau Serracanta, the managing director of Dorna Sports. "Cava is a very important aspect of the podium celebrations of MotoGP stars and it's difficult to imagine a podium celebration without that aspect."

Pere Bonet, Freixenet's communications and PR director, added: "For Freixenet, MotoGP iis one of the most interesting sponsor relationships in our event's calendar, not onl;y for the scale of the TV impact in many countries, but also for the PR activities that we can organise in each country where MotoGP is run."

The company distributes its cava in 130 countries. Its Freixenet Cordon Negro will be the cava of choice in the MotoGP class this season. The championship starts in Qatar with a floodlit evening race on Sunday 11th April.
