The Florida Citrus Bowl will receive a US$10 million renovation, according to reports, in place of the delayed US$175 million investment that had been planned before the recession.
"This is more of a first phase of the renovation than interim improvements," mayor Buddy Dyer told the Orlando Sentinel. "These are things we would do as part of the full renovation that won't be made obsolete."
The stadium hosts the Capital One and Champs Sports bowl games, the Florida Classic between Bethune-Cookman University and Florida A&M University, and a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game.
