Barcelona, soccer's European champions, are thought to have secured a new sponsorship package for the next three years, with Turkish Airlines (THY) poised to confirm an agreement with the Spanish giants.
As well as a seven-figure cash investment, THY will be expected to fly Barcelona to away matches and on pre-season tours on a specially provided aircraft, emblazoned with the club's logo.
Barcelona continues to bring in impressive revenues despite having taken the unusual step of donating its shirt sponsorship space to Unicef. The club posted a revenue increase to €384.8 million (US$543 million) for the year ending June 2009, from €308.8 million the previous year.
