ESPN Star Sports will broadcast seven matches from the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2009, held in Australia this month. All matches at the North Sydney Oval will be televised, including two group stage matches, three Super Six stage matches and the 22 March final. The competition will be televised in all eight participating countries as well as throughout Africa, the Middle East, and traditional cricketing heartlands such as Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.

In addition, ESPN Star Sports will stream the matches free of charge on its website, meaning the competition will be screened in more than 200 countries worldwide. The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup has been running for longer than the men's version. It was first staged in England in 1973.

Former Australia women's captain and lead run-scorer in women's cricket, Belinda Clark, will be one of a host of star commentators. She said: "It is great that ESPN Star Sports is covering seven matches live which means the sport will go to a worldwide audience as never before. These are great and exciting times for women's cricket and I am pleased to see that everything is being done for the promotion and development of the game."
