Espanyol go green with solar panels and kit sponsors

Espanyol, the Spanish soccer club, has handed its back of shirt sponsorship to Trina Solar and its short sponsorship to Abasol for the next three years in exchange for the solar panels the companies have installed on the roof of the club's new stadium.
Trina Solar supplied Espanyol with 500 KW of photovoltaic modules for the installation. The solar panels are expected to be worth as much as US$300,000 to the club each year.
The new stadium, the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat, has taken three years to build at a cost of US$86 million. It has a capacity of 40,500.
Espanyol were beaten by Athletic Bilbao in the opening game of the new Spanish season.
