Would-be National Rugby League franchise the Central Coast Bears have secured another major sponsor, guaranteeing the team a further six-figure investment if it secures a place in Australia's NRL.

The Bears have already agreed a US$2.6 million three-year sponsorship deal with Mortgage House as they seek to raise a total of almost US$11 million as part of their quest to join the NRL. A number of other businesses have also backed the team financially.

Now Fone Zone have pledged another six-figure sum, thought to be around US$450,000. The team is seeking to join the NRL from 2013. "We have a population of over one million people, the third largest junior league in NSW, a purpose-built stadium in Gosford and the iconic North Sydney Oval," said Bears chief executive Greg Florimo last year. "The Bears are ready to return at the highest level."
