Cadbury to put wind in sails for Weymouth sailing

31 January 2010 | By Simone Walker

Cadbury will sponsor the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, home to the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games sailing events, by providing product to both participants and spectators.

The deal is an extension of Cadbury signing as a Tier Two Supporter of London 2012, a partnership which means that any confectionery and packaged ice cream sold at the Olympics must be Cadbury's.

John Tweed, chief executive, WPNSA said: "The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy team are very inspired by Cadbury's new involvement at this international sailing venue and we are looking forward to incorporating a fun sporting spirit into future events and legacy programme activities."

A Cadbury spokesperson said: "We are delighted to link with such a venue, a venue that is set in the centre of the Jurassic Coast and is the only Natural World Heritage site on the UK mainland. The work that the non-profit making Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy does with the local community matches our Cadbury values and we are delighted to have a five year partnership with the Academy as they build on their world class facilities."
