Modern Times Group has secured the rights to the Uefa Europa League, the competition that will replace the Uefa Cup from next season, in Denmark and Norway.
The three-year deal will see the competition screened on a number of MTG's channels in the two Scandinavian countries, on both free television and pay-TV. Two live matches will be shown each matchweek, along with highlights programmes. The first choice live match will be shown on free-to-air television.
A total of 160 teams are expected to participate in the 2009/10 Uefa Europa League, from 53 UEFA associations. The competition has been rebranded and remodelled to more closely follow the format of the Uefa Champions League.
Six of the teams competing next season will come from Denmark and Norway. The two countries' presence in the top-20 Uefa rankings means each is entitled to enter three sides.
