Brawn GP signs new partner ahead of British Grand Prix
Gieves & Hawkes, the London tailors, has struck a sponsorship deal with dominant Formula One team Brawn GP.
The team's drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, who head the Formula One points table, will join the team's management in wearing Gieves & Hawkes suits on all formal team occasions under the terms of the deal. Financial figures were not released, but it is thought the company will be providing some US$100,000 worth of clothing to the team.
"We are delighted to have begun our new association with Gieves & Hawkes ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone," said Ross Brawn, team principal of Brawn GP. "As a British company which excels in precision and quality, the values of Gieves & Hawkes were a perfect match for our team, and their drive for excellence mirrors our own approach to racing."
The formal attire will be a grey, single-breasted, two-button mohair suit with a crisp white shirt with the team's distinctive yellow, white and grey colouring featuring on the tie and button detailing.
Steven Walton, chief executive of Gieves & Hawkes, added: "We are very excited about the partnership between Brawn GP and Gieves & Hawkes. Both companies represent the highest quality in their respective fields with precision and innovation that is second to none. Brawn GP's success this season is a testament to the hard-working and capable team they have built and Gieves & Hawkes are very proud to now be part of this adventure and support their challenge."
