Betfair and Cricket Australia sign new partnership
Contract summary
Length of contract: 3 yearsAnnualised value: US$600,000
Overall value: US$1.8 million
Betfair will become the official betting partner of Cricket Australia in a move that could prove potentially lucrative to the sport's governing body in Australia.
The two parties have had similar arrangements in the past, but the contracts had lapsed. The agreement will see Betfair able to use Cricket Australia's logo as well as advertise at matches, and will see Cricket Australia take a share of Betfair punters' cricket bets.
Betfair has a similar agreement with the England and Wales Cricket Board, signed in advance of the summer's English victory in the Ashes, as well as with the Australian Football League. The 'Betfair Blimp' hovering over matches has become a familiar sight to cricket fans - as has the camera footage taken from its lofty vantage point.
