The next three series of the Ashes, the England versus Australia cricket clash that is the oldest and most famous contest in the sport, will be shown on Sky Sports in the UK after BSkyB agreed a US$60m deal with Cricket Australia.

Sky, which already held the rights to the 2009 and 2013 Ashes series, secured the 2010/11 edition of the competition in a deal which also incorporates the rights to all Australian international cricket from 2009 until 2012.

As well as the Ashes series and a number of one-day and Twenty20 clashes between Australia and England, Sky will show Australia's clashes with New Zealand, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.

"We believe there is growing interest in all forms of cricket," said Sky Sports managing director Vic Wakeling.

"But the priority for the English public remains the Ashes which is why we are delighted to be covering the next three series, through to and including the series planned for the summer of 2013."

Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland added: "Cricket Australia is delighted to have finalised the deal with Sky Sports, an organisation that has a long and illustrious history of supplying high quality content to its viewers.

"It is important that Australian cricket is seen by as many fans as possible around the world and the agreement with Sky Sports will help us to achieve this aim."
