AMI secures exclusive Premier League rights
Leading independent sports rights distributor AMI has been awarded the exclusive broadcast and new media rights for the Barclays Premier League across 15 territories in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
AMI has been involved with the Premier League since its inception in 1992 and was its biggest broadcast partner last season. In addition to the League, AMI also holds rights to Formula One, World Rally Championship, FA Cup and England's internationals in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia regions.
Richard Scudamore, chief executive of the Premier League, said: “We are extremely pleased to be continuing our partnership with AMI. They have a proven track record in distributing the Barclays Premier League across a variety of platforms and technologies and I am sure they will continue to help develop the accessibility and reach of our rights across their territories. This will be of benefit to the many Premier League fans throughout Eastern Europe and Central Asia.”
The deal comes in the same week that the Premier League secured a major increase in its rights in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
