Length of contract: 2 years | Annualised value: US$1 million | Overall value: US$2 million
Irn Bru will be the new sponsor of the Rugby Football League (RFL) after its parent company, AG Barr, signed a two-year US$2million extension to its deal.
Adrian Troy, Irn Bru's head of marketing, described the company as, "extremely proud to be associated with the Super League."
"It's great to see these prominent brands coming together and providing a strong platform for sport in the UK," he added.
"We are delighted to be associated with Super League and Sky Sports and this coming year promises to be exciting. This is a great brand fit and we are confident that the partnership will help us drive further growth in the coming years.
"Irn-Bru's partnership with the Rugby League will bring extra excitement and anticipation to the games; our aim is to provide the fans with something unique and in keeping with Irn-Bru's individual character.
"We believe that these partnerships provide the perfect complementary associations to help promote the brand’s masculine persona and strength of character which we are sure will appeal to Super League fans."
Paul Kimberley, the RFL's Commercial Director, said: "We are delighted that IRN-BRU has become the new sponsor and with its support, look forward to another successful year."
AG Barr claim that the equivalent of 12 cans of Irn Bru are drunk in Scotland every second, and hope to extend the drink's popularity over a wider area.
AG Barr's energy drink TAUT will also appear on the back of all Super League referee shorts during 2009.
