AFL agrees multi-million partnership with Northern Territory

The Australian Football League has agreed to stage two games per season in the country's Northern Territory for the next five years after securing an agreement worth US$7.5 million with the Northern Territory Government.

The agreement includes a seven-figure cash injection for infrastructure upgrades at TIO Stadium and Traeger Park. The Bulldogs, Melbourne and Richmond will rotate as the home side, with Port Adelaide the away side i both matches next year.

"Aussie Rules is the Territory's most popular sport and the Territory Government is proud to have secured more matches for AFL supporters," said Northern Territory chief minister Paul Henderson.

"This AUS$8 million deal with the AFL is a strong vote of confidence in our ability to host AFL matches at neutral venues and will bring millions of dollars into our local economy."
