ELEVEN SPORTS adds more premium football rights in Portugal

Global sports provider ELEVEN SPORTS has added to its growing portfolio in Portugal with the acquisition of LIVE and EXCLUSIVE football from Bundesliga, the German Supercup (both from 2019/20), Scottish Ladbrokes Premiership, Belgian Jupiler Pro League, the Belgian Supercup and Arsenal’s official club channel (from 2018/19).

Adding more leading European football in Portugal bolsters ELEVEN’s strong offer for football fans across the country following the platform’s entry into the market in May with EXCLUSIVE rights to the UEFA Champions League, LaLiga (Spain) and Ligue 1 (France).

The two-year agreement for Bundesliga and the German Supercup starts from the 2019/20 season and will include all the big matches including Der Klassiker between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. The partnership means that Dortmund star Raphaël Guerreiro – who is currently in Russia with the Portugal squad for the FIFA 2018 World Cup – Robert Lewandowski, Matts Hummels and Thomas Muller will be added to the growing list of local players and international stars that Portuguese fans will only be able to watch on ELEVEN SPORTS.

The agreements with the Scottish Ladbrokes Premiership and the Belgian Jupiler Pro League will also run for two years and both will start with the upcoming 2018/19 season.

“ELEVEN SPORTS is bringing the best players, clubs and leagues to Portuguese football fans.” said Danny Menken, Group Managing Director, ELEVEN SPORTS. “We have already secured rights to several top leagues which equates to more than 3,300 hours of LIVE and EXCLUSIVE football per year, ensuring that there is always something on. In the coming weeks we will add much more non-football sports content to create an offer attractive to every sports fan in Portugal.”

ELEVEN recently agreed a carriage deal with Portuguese telecommunications operator NOWO. The carriage agreement means that NOWO will distribute ELEVEN SPORTS’ channels in Portugal, guaranteeing access for fans to the premium action on ELEVEN SPORTS.
